Henderson, NV is one the fastest growing cities in America with a world-class quality of life. While this means huge opportunities for Southern Nevadans, we at Foundation for Recovery see firsthand how this growth can lead to new challenges.

Since 2005, Foundation for Recovery’s mission has been to support people and families recovering from mental health and substance use disorders while creating a sense of community among those of us with this unique, lived-experience. As Southern Nevada grows, so does the need for a community-based approach to recovery.

In service to this mission, we were delighted to collaborate with fellow HCC member,
College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving Henderson, to furnish our community center in October.

College Hunks is locally owned and operated by Rob Epstein, a franchisee of the national moving and junk hauling company. As President of College Hunks Henderson, Rob was kind enough to donate a diverse set of goods from his warehouse, handpicked by the staff at Foundation for Recovery.

As Rob put it:
“We are excited to help furnish the Foundation for Recovery community center and support its critical work in the recovery space, especially knowing that the connection was made possible by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce network.”

Making The Connection
We initially connected with Rob at College Hunks through another Henderson Chamber of Commerce member, Paul Ahmadzai, CEO at
Everox. Paul introduced and facilitated the dialogue with College Hunks to start, and from there it was a matter of coordination.

In the spirit of mutual aid that Foundation for Recovery champions, Rob was kind enough to let us visit his warehouse with a team to select some items. Our team members are drawn from volunteers and staff in recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Having members of our community be involved in the selection process was essential for us to live our values.

With all the COVID-proofing we could muster, items were carefully selected to support a welcoming, productive space for the Community Center. The College Hunks Henderson team was kind enough to set some home furnishings aside for us before we even got there. Two-way communication with our fellow HCC member helped us ensure a productive visit.

Delivery Day
On the big day, the College Hunks Henderson team hand-delivered the selected community center items, completely free of charge. This was no small feat, because the College Hunks warehouse is clear across town from its final destination at the Foundation for Recovery community center.

In true charitable fashion, College Hunks Henderson handled this process like any other paid client would be treated: With courtesy, respect and professionalism.

Some of the items donated by College Hunks Henderson to our community included a new sofa, rugs, end tables, and dressers for our drop-in center.

It was a great experience for our recovery community staff to see the goods that they had hand-selected be unloaded by the awesome College Hunks Henderson team.

What It Means To The Community
As we experience growth in Henderson, NV, it’s more important than ever to ensure that our community members get the support they need for mental health and substance abuse disorders. Foundation for Recovery is proud to honor the lived experience of our community members while providing them a framework for recovery.

The donation by College Hunks Henderson to the Foundation for Recovery community center serves as a stellar example of how future business-nonprofit collaborations can fuel this recovery framework.

We are grateful to our fellow Henderson Chamber of Commerce member, Rob Epstein at College HUNKS Henderson and look to the future for more great #HCCLove moments.

how to avoid banking security threats
By Clark County Credit Union November 15, 2025
Quick Summary Online banking security is crucial as cyber threats grow. Top threats include spoofing, malware, public Wi-Fi risks, and weak passwords. CCCU shares essential tips on how to protect your finances. In today’s fast-paced digital world, online banking security is more important than ever. While digital banking offers unmatched convenience, staying vigilant ensures a safe and secure banking experience. Here are the top four online banking security threats and tips to avoid them: 1. Spoofing Scams Spoofing happens when fraudsters manipulate caller IDs, email addresses, or websites to appear as legitimate companies. Their goal is to steal your bank information by asking you to click links or answer questions pertaining to your bank account or login credentials. Tip: If in doubt, directly reach out to your financial institution using their official contact details. 2. Malware and Viruses Malware can infect devices, putting your personal and financial data at risk. Cybercriminals often use malicious software to steal banking details and exploit sensitive data for their own gain. Tip: Regularly update your devices and install trusted antivirus and anti-malware software. Older devices may not accept current updates, making them a risk. 3. Public Wi-Fi Vulnerabilities Public Wi-Fi networks are often unsecured, making it easy for hackers to intercept data. Tip: Never access your online banking account on public Wi-Fi. Use a secure, private network or a virtual private network (VPN). 4. Weak or Reused Passwords Using simple or reused passwords increases the risk of unauthorized access to personal and financial accounts. Tip: Create strong, unique passwords for each account. Use a combination of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Additional Safety Tips: Enable multifactor authentication (MFA) for extra security. Download banking apps from verified sources only. Monitor your accounts regularly for suspicious activity and set up account alerts. Log out after every session, especially on shared devices. Conclusion Protecting your online banking security starts with staying informed and proactive. Remember that knowledge is key to safeguarding your finances, so always verify unexpected messages or calls and think twice before clicking any links.
