HCC Signs on to U.S. Chamber Letter on Rail Labor Negotiations
November 29, 2022
The HCC signed on to a letter led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce urging Congressional leaders to act, if necessary, to avoid a national rail strike.
Businesses continue to face supply chain issues and even a short-term strike could cause severe economic damage. While a voluntary agreement would have been the best outcome, lawmakers needed to be prepared to intervene to avoid the negative impacts a railroad shutdown would cause if an agreement is not reached. Thankfully, lawmakers acted and passed legislation to avert a railroad strike that was signed by President Biden on December 2nd.
