Celebrating Business Diversity, Strengthening Our Community

February 24, 2025

A Message From President & CEO, Scott Muelrath

As we celebrate Black History Month, we recognize the profound impact of Black business leaders who drive Southern Nevada’s economy forward. At the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, we believe our strength is reflected in the diverse experiences of our membership, and Board leadership should represent the community it serves.

We are proud of the distinguished Black and female business leaders on our Executive Board, Board of Directors, Foundation Board, and Henderson Development Association, whose leadership strengthens our organization and sets an example for inclusive business practices. As Dr. Matzinger, President & CEO of Mortal Healing, shares:

"As a Black woman and a business owner in Henderson, I believe diversity is essential—it strengthens our businesses and sets an example of inclusive leadership for our surrounding communities. When we lead with diversity, we don’t just benefit our own community—we set a standard for others to follow, showing what’s possible when all voices are included in decision-making."

Dr. Carolyn Matzinger, M.D., President & CEO, Mortal Healing

Diversity spans many dimensions—business size, industry, sector, gender, and ethnic heritage—all of which are represented at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. By embracing different perspectives, we create a stronger, more innovative business environment. As DeAndre Esteen, Vice President at Barclays Bank US, explains:

"Cultivating a culture of diversity and fostering inclusion helps to create a sense of belonging among board members. By welcoming a wide range of ideas, perspectives, and viewpoints, a diverse board is more creative, energized, and effective, without question."

DeAndre Esteen, Vice President & Contact Center Site Coordinator, Barclays Bank US

Beyond representation, fostering diversity is about building opportunities for leadership, mentorship, and meaningful growth. Andrea Blue, General Manager of Tivoli Village, underscores this point:

"Being in a leadership role within the Henderson Chamber of Commerce is both a privilege and a responsibility that I don’t take lightly. Personally, it’s an opportunity to represent and inspire my community, demonstrating to others—especially women and people of color—that their voices and contributions matter."

Andrea Blue, General Manager, Tivoli Village

As we look ahead to Women's History Month in March, I invite you to join us in honoring the achievements of women in business at our Women’s History Month Breakfast on March 11 at DragonRidge Country Club. It’s a wonderful opportunity to further support diverse leadership and strengthen the connections within our Chamber community.

Let’s continue to build a Chamber that reflects and elevates the voices of all.
