Children often enter foster care with only the clothes on their backs. As a result, A Greater Hope is always in need of new school supplies for foster youth ages 5-18. Supplies include: new backpacks, pens, pencils, paper, crayons, notebooks, rulers, calculators, thumb drives, laptops, etc. Another urgent need is for cribs and crib mattresses, as well as twin over twin bunk beds and mattresses. Beds are needed to ensure no child goes without a safe and comfortable space to sleep, and also helps ensure siblings can be placed in the same foster home.

Our ALS families are at serious risk of complications from contracting coronavirus and this can inhibit them from grocery shopping. In addition, many of our families were being supported by a sole provider who worked in the casino or restaurant industries and have lost their jobs. To help these families, we are asking for grocery store or food delivery gift cards so they can be sure to have food in the home for both the person with ALS and their caregiver. Gift cards can be mailed to our office, 3191 E. Warm Springs Rd, Las Vegas NV 89120

We are very concerned for our NICU families and nurses. Moms and Dads with babies in the NICU are in very high need of masks, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer. They are still permitted to see their babies in the ICU but they need to protect themselves and their families from COVID so they don't bring it into the NICU. We also want to support our hospitals with masks. We encourage direct donation of these to hospitals but we can also facilitate to get them directly into Labor and Deliver and into the Neonatal ICU. Supplies can be delivered to our PO BOX: 209 S Stephanie St. #B144, Henderson, NV 89012.

United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) unites our community to improve people’s lives from cradle to career. UWSN created the Emergency Assistance and Community Needs Fund to assist those impacted by Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19). During this crisis, the needs of the most vulnerable people in our community are increasing, and that group of people is growing--there are people who need help today that have never needed help before. We created the Emergency Assistance and Community Needs Fund to provide food, shelter and utility assistance to the hundreds of thousands of Nevadans in need. Bank of America is covering all administrative fees and underwriting expenses related to the fund. When you make your gift to the fund, you can also support United Way of Southern Nevada’s general fund and help move our community forward. Together, we can make sure Nevadans can succeed, now and in the future. Learn how you can access support and find other community resources at uwsn.org/COVID19.
