Chairman of the Board, Henderson Chamber of Commerce
To my fellow members, friends and colleagues, I would like to humbly say it is a great honor to commence my term as the Chairman of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce (HCC). I take great pride in this opportunity. Being a member of the HCC over the past 16 years has been a very rewarding experience, both professionally and personally, and I look forward to serving the Chamber and Henderson community well into the future.
For those of you who do not know me, I co-own, with my twin brother Mike, Emerald Island Casino in downtown Henderson. Being a part of the Henderson Chamber has helped us grow our business exponentially. Over the years, from our ten year anniversary celebration in 2013 to the recent expansion of our restaurant, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce has always supported us and provided the opportunity to give back and share with others in our community. This community spirit and personal service is what the HCC is all about. I've got to tell you, it is a great feeling to be Chair of this organization. If you have not yet fulfilled a service opportunity with the HCC, served as a Chamber Ambassador or attended a ribbon cutting or other event, the time is now. Getting out there, mixing and mingling and being involved are all first steps in the right direction to increase your business and serve our community. To further emphasize the personal nature of the HCC and my style of involvement and leadership, I extend to you all the offer of my assistance. If there is ever anything you feel I can do to help your business please feel free to call me at 702-567-9160 ext. 238. I welcome your input as to how we all can make Henderson the best place to do business in the great state of Nevada.
As my chairmanship of the Board begins, I would like to take a moment to thank outgoing board members Laird Noble Sanders, Rick Smith and David Chavez for their years of service and dedication. In turn, I welcome newly appointed board members Dr. Renee Coffman, President and Co-founder of Roseman University, Trish Nash, owner of Signature Gallery of Homes, and Shelley Berkley, former US Representative and current CEO and Senior Provost of Touro University.
We, as a Chamber, have taken on many challenges in the past and this year will be no different. We have been successful in promoting prosperity and protecting Henderson business interests. A special thanks goes to outgoing Chair DJ Allen and all past HCC Chairs, Members and Ambassadors. We have built a community in which residents, visitors and investors are attracted. At the HCC we are here for business, both large and small, and we take pride in the fact that small business makes up the great majority of our membership. We will continue to strive to ensure future prosperity via a pro-business climate while representing the unified voice of the HCC members.
Over the last three years, under the leadership of President and CEO Scott Muelrath and his dedicated hard working team, HCC membership has grown almost 30%. That says something. Businesses want to be a part of this organization.
Together we make things happen.
Lastly, please attend the HCC's annual State of the Chamber Luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 3 in the Milan Ballroom at the M Resort, 12300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, in Henderson. Please join us at this wonderful event as we commemorate 70 years of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. Be sure to register for the event if you haven't already and I look forward to seeing you there.
