Community Cares
A large part of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation (HCCF) is the Community Cares events held throughout the year. The HCC's members and staff volunteer their time to meet the needs of the non-profit. Past recipients include ALS Association Nevada Chapter, Henderson Libraries, S.A.F.E. House, Salvation Army, Spread the Word, United Blood Services and more.
As part of our Community Cares initiative. the Foundation supported S.A.F.E. House in December 2020. S.A.F.E. House is a domestic violence shelter in Henderson which supports families through advocacy, counseling and education. They are one of the most comprehensive domestic violence organizations in the state of Nevada. S.A.F.E. House’s work is absolutely critical and especially needed during this difficult time.
Through generous donations and the support of the Vegas Golden Knights, 28 families were adopted from the shelter and nearly $10,000 was used to buy items on each family’s wish lists. Families received toys, games, household items, clothing and gift cards.
“This year has been particularly challenging for everyone. We are thankful for those in the community who despite difficulties, were able to still give and selflessly assist those who need it the most,” said Kelly Green, Executive Director of HCCF. “Giving has truly been the definition of ‘community’ and compassion as we celebrate the holidays amid the pandemic.”
