Tronox Donates Thousands To United Way Of Southern Nevada

On June 23, Tronox presented a check for $2,000 to United Way of Southern Nevada. The two organizations have had a strong partnership over the years as Tronox has consistently donated to support United Way and their mission to help the people of Southern Nevada.

Cox, MGM soak up sun, savings with their own solar arrays

Cox Enterprises could have just flipped the switch on its two new solar power arrays in the Las Vegas Valley, but that would have been so basic cable.

Instead, a muscle-bound man dressed as the Greek god Apollo arrived by hand-drawn chariot to carry a solar panel onto the shaded outdoor stage and rub gold-painted shoulders with Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee and other dignitaries. READ MORE


WGU Nevada Celebrates First Anniversary with $250,000 in Scholarships for Nevada Residents

One year ago, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval issued a proclamation establishing WGU Nevada, the state’s online, competency-based university aimed at expanding access to higher education for Nevadans. Since that time the university’s enrollment has increased 93 percent, now serving more than 1,700 Nevadans. In celebration of WGU Nevada’s growth, its first anniversary, and helping the governor toward his vision of a “New Nevada,” the university has announced $250,000 in scholarships for Nevadans.  READ MORE

WGU Nevada Announces New Scholarships for Business Programs 

Nonprofit, online WGU Nevada is now offering a new scholarship program for new students enrolling in any of its undergraduate degree programs in its College of Business. Applications are now being accepted for the Excellence in Business Scholarship, which provides up to $3,000 ($600 per six-month term, up to five terms). In addition, the $65 university application fee will be waived for those applying for the scholarship at nevada.wgu.edu/excellenceinbusiness by August 31, 2016. READ MORE

State-endorsed, nonprofit online university WGU Nevada is now accepting applications for a new online bachelor’s degree program aimed at preparing IT professionals for roles in the growing field of data management and analytics. The Bachelor of Science in Data Management/Data Analytics is designed for experienced IT professionals seeking a bachelor’s degree and industry certifications to advance their careers. Developed in collaboration with industry and academic experts, the B.S. in Data Management/Data Analytics program is online and competency-based, which allows students to study and learn at their own pace, completing courses as soon as they demonstrate mastery of the subject matter through tests, papers, simulations, and projects.  READ MORE


Rupesh J. Parikh, M.D., Medical Oncologist and Hematologist, Named Chief of Staff for Two Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican Campuses

Rupesh J. Parikh, M.D., board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist for Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada (CCCN), has been appointed chief of staff for Dignity Health-St. Rose Dominican’s Siena and Rose de Lima campuses. In this role, Dr. Parikh represents the 1,000+ physicians on the medical staff of both campuses, chairs the Medical Executive Committee and is a member of the St. Rose’s Board of Directors. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Parikh served on both the Medical Executive and Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committees at St. Rose. Dr. Parikh joins Dr. Robert Wiencek, chief of staff of St. Rose’s San Martín campus, and the respective vice chiefs of staff, Drs. Lance Allgower and Stephanie Hanson.  READ MORE

Long Elementary Paints “Why America is Great!”

Las Vegas-based business consulting and CPA firm Johnson Advisors visited Walter V. Long Elementary school on May 25 to announce the winner of the firm’s annual Fourth of July art contest during the school’s end-of-the-year assembly. Johnson Advisors annually celebrates the birth of our great country and supports the youth in our community by partnering with an under-served elementary school in Clark Country to participate in its annual Fourth of July Card Program.
