Bob Cooper joined the City of Henderson in March 1999 as the Economic Development Manager. He is responsible for the city's economic development strategy, including local business retention and expansion programs, business, attraction, partnership developments and business ombudsman activities. Bob has over 34 years experience in economic development, specializing in business recruitment, local expansions and retention, and business creation strategies. He comes to Henderson from his position of Executive Director for the Economic Development Collaborative-Ventura County where he worked for two years. His previous experience includes serving as President of the Spokane (Washington) Area Economic Development Council for ten years; General Manager of the Economic Development Corporation of Shasta County, Redding, California for four years; Vice President/Executive Officer and Economic Developer with the Superior California Development Council for seven years; and he spent five years with the Clearwater (Idaho) Economic Development Association.
Bob received his BA in Geography with an emphasis in Economic Development from California State University, Fresno. He achieved his Certified Economic Developer (CED) designation from the American Economic Development Council in 1982. He is a published author of numerous articles on economic development and has served on several boards and councils including the Los Angeles Regional Technology Alliance, Washington Association of Economic Development, Private Industry Councils, Governor’s Advisory Committee on Biotechnology Advancement, National Association of Development Organizations, and California Association for Local Economic Development.
